The Author

The author, Richard Harrison, is an independent historical researcher who lives in the Melbourne suburb of Blackburn.

Before creating HDAE his career had mostly involved business research, and for a number of years he worked in the stockbroking industry as a securities analyst. In that period he edited The Australian Investors’ Dictionary, which was published by John Wiley in 2003. From 2004 to 2014 he was employed by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission as an analyst and research manager.

The author enjoyed a brief but successful career as a self-represented litigant, followed by a longer and less successful career as a student at law. More recently he has practised as a company director and business consultant, and worked as a research officer to a parliamentarian.

The author is a member of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria, the Selden Society and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
